Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, OAGF, say there are still setbacks in its quest for the implementation of the July 11, 2024 Supreme court Judgment directing for total autonomy for the local government councils. According to the OAGF, the two major setbacks it identified are the failure by the LGAs to submit account details, and also streamlining only the LGAs that are democratically elected as a prerequisite for receiving the direct funding.

Oyo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun, has rescued two wives and two sons of Baale Alagede, who were kidnapped from their home in Ibadan, the state capital. The rescue which happened on Tuesday involved a joint team of Amotekun operatives and local hunters who launched a search operation and tracked the kidnappers to a forest in Ojutaye, along Oretu Road in Akinyele LGA.

The Federal Government (FG) has approved the relocation of 29 correctional facilities from urban centres which was disclosed by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo during the launch of some operational vehicles for the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS).

Africa Independent Television and Channels Television have publicly apologised to the Department of State Services over their reports on the agency’s involvement in the Lagos State House of Assembly crisis on February 17. AIT News, in an official statement during its News Hour program, retracted its initial report clarifying that its reporting was based on eyewitness accounts but acknowledged that the information was incomplete and had unintentionally misrepresented the role of the DSS.

The family and legal team of detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, paid him a visit at the Department of State Services (DSS) on Friday, during the routine visitation exercise.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, has encouraged soldiers to intensify assault against bandits terrorizing the North-West region focusing on Katsina until all bandits are eliminated so that Nigerians can live in peace. He made this declaration during his operational tour to the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Natsinta Barracks, Katsina, on Wednesday.
