President Bola Tinubu has called on state governors, ministers, and key leaders to be selfless and work for the people’s needy. The President, who hosted governors, members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), Service Chiefs, and top government officials) to break the Ramadan fast at the State House, urged leaders to meet the poor and vulnerable needs as a key to national progress. “I thank you all for responding to this invitation. You honored it out of respect, not because you don’t have enough to eat or share”, the President acknowledged.
“I recall in our first FEC meeting, I said we were going to work hard to fetch water from a dry well.
“We are still working hard to ensure that there is water to drink and that we spend money, not the people. You, the leaders at the subnational levels, are also doing all you can to spend money, not the people.
“Look at yourselves as navigators that will bring the country to the promised land. Standing here as president is a great honor, and you can’t trade it. Continue doing what you are doing. And do more for the people.
Mr. President noted a recent drop in food prices, attributing it to federal and state-level interventions.
Among those present were Vice President Kashim Shettima, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and governors from states including Abia, Benue, Kano, Kwara , Akwa Ibom, Kaduna, and Ondo.
In response to the president's call to duty, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) and governor of Kwara state, thanked the president for his “bold and decisive reforms”, which he said are transforming the economy.
The President was clear: leaders must continue working together to deliver a better future for Nigerians.
