Nigeria’s Super Eagles dropped nine places from 41st to 50th in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday.

The Super Eagles also dropped 50 points as they are now on 671 points from their previous 721 points.

The latest ranking, which was published on FIFA’s official website, places the Super Eagles in the eighth position in Africa behind Senegal who recorded their highest-ever position on the monthly ranking moving up nine steps to 23rd.

Real Madrid on Tuesday walloped their opponent, APOEL Nicosi 6-0 to book a place in the second round of the UEFA Champions League. Goals from Christiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Nacho ensured that the Los Blancos finish second in Group H. The victory ended Real Madrid's winless spell having played goalless against City rival, Atletico Marid last weekend.

Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni has retired from football after clocking 35. The former Everton and Portsmouth hitman announced his retirement in a chat with Sky Sports. The player who made 250 appearances in the English Premier League for Everton, Portsmouth, Middlesborough and Blackburn United scored a total of 96 goals.

Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has debunked circulating reports that Henrikh Mkhitaryan was omitted from the squad that prosecuted the match against Newcastle because of an altercation between them. The Manager who stated this on Wednesday at a press conference ahead of Champions League clash against Basel said his omission was purely because of form.
