The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has set new guidelines for submitting online business-name update requests to improve verification procedures and maintain more reliable business records.
The Commission’s Wednesday release on its X platform stated that applicants will henceforth submit extra personal and contact information for verification, noting that these revised conditions support continuing efforts to enhance record integrity, curb fraudulent activities, and enable smooth contact with business owners.
The statement said, “Under the new guidelines, every Business Name Online Update submission must include date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s email address, phone number for the registered office or proprietor, where different, and a valid means of identification,”.
The CAC disclosed that the additional information will help to improve its database management, speed up compliance verification, and deliver more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs across the country.
The commission stressed the need for business owners to adhere to the new requirements effective immediately, to prevent any delays in handling their requests.
The new steps taken by Nigeria's regulatory body for the processing of business names reflect its drive to deliver a more secure, efficient, and reliable digital registration process.
