The Nigeria Police Force has issued a statement debunking a ‘wanted’ notice that has gone viral on social media space about Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo. The notice that has been widely circulated on social media, claiming Iyabo Ojo was wanted by the Office of the Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit, the police said, and the statement is a fake news, “false, misleading, and not issued by the Force.”

On its official Facebook page, the NPF clarified that the notice did not originate from the police and was not posted on any of its official platforms by the Force authority.

The statement partly reads; “FAKE NEWS ALERT! This ‘WANTED’ poster of actress Iyabo Ojo did not emanate from the Nigeria Police Force. It is false, misleading & was never posted on any official NPF platform. Disregard & stop spreading fake news.”

The police emphasized the importance of verifying information only through official NPF communication channels before sharing or reacting to news to avoid being misled by fake news.

“Verify only from official NPF channels,” the statement further concluded.
