Following an attack by suspected herdsmen on Odonto in Adim Akpa a community in Otukpo local council area of Benue State security forces have been deployed to the area.

The attack which occurred on Christmas eve left two people dead and two others wounded.

The Nigerian Military says its troops are in hot pursuit of fleeing Boko Haram insurgents after a failed attempted attack at Moloi area of Maiduguri, the Borno state capital. Troops serving under the Operation Lafiya Dole in Borno State have killed 20 Boko Haram members and uncovered deadly weapons from them. A statement from the Deputy Director Public Relations, Colonel Timothy Antigha, on Wednesday, said the soldiers were able to arrest 17 of the sect members while rescuing over 100 people. The feat, according to Antigha, was made possible following a supported air bombardment by the Nigerian Air Force.

Four persons were killed and food trucks hijacked when suspected Boko Haram militants attacked a United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) aid convoy over in Ngala, Borno state. The attack, which happened during the weekend, is the latest in the region as the conflict with Boko Haram nears its ninth year. “WFP can confirm that a convoy escorted by the Nigerian military including WFP-hired trucks was the subject of an attack by armed groups 35 km southwest of Ngala in Borno State on Saturday,” the spokeswoman Jane Howard said in a statement.
