Following the reopening of worship centres, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) have commenced working on safety guidelines at worship centres in a bid to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 in churches and mosques.

President MuhammaduBuhari on Sunday observed Eid-el-Fitr prayers with his immediate family at the State House, Abuja. The President through his official Twitter handle, @MBuhari, said he joined his family for Eid prayers at home, in keeping with the Presidential Task Force, PTF, on COVID-19 protocol against mass gatherings, as well as the directive of the Sultan of Sokoto suspending Eid congregational prayers across the country.

The Federal Government through the ministry of interior has declared Monday 25th of May and Tuesday 26 May, as Public Holidays to mark this year’s Eid-al-Fitr Celebration. Mohammed Manga, Director Press and Public Relations in the Ministry made this disclosure on behalf of the Minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in Abuja.

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar who is also the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), has given a directive that Muslims should observe the weekends Eid-el-Fitr prayers at home in line with the COVID-19 protocols aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday celebrated with Muslim faithful on the commencement of the 2020 month of Ramadan, following the sighting of the moon. However, he warned Muslims against performing Islamic rituals in mass to avoid further spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

President Muhammadu Buhari has today congratulated the Christians for witnessing another Easter celebration, however, said “it is unfortunate’ the Christians would celebrate the Easter under “subdue manner’ away from the usual church congregation service.
