A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has yesterday declared the activities of some groups linked to banditry activities as an act of terrorism. The controversy on whether bandits are terrorists or not has finally received judicial backing at the court of law as they have been declared “Terrorists”.

The Nigerian Senate has yesterday revealed they have directed the Management of the Federal Character Commission to respond in writing as to why there is alleged secret recruitment ongoing at the ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of government while disregarding due process.

The Kogi State Government has denied the ownership of the N19.3billion Naira alleged to have been hidden in starling bank by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC which was returned to the Central Bank. Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi State in his reaction, threaten to sue the anti-graft if it fails to tender its unreserved apology within the next 48hrs. Recall, last week Friday, the EFCC revealed that it has returned the N19.3billion Naira belonging to Kogi state bailout salary to the CBN.

The Vanguard reporter, Mr. Tordue Salem who was reported missing since October 13th, 2021 has been found dead in Abuja. Details of the recovery of his body have not yet been disclosed by the police. Before his demise, Salem was covering the activities of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Abuja for Vanguard newspaper. According to reports, on the day Salem went missing, he closed from work and boarded a cab at Total filling station, close to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Headquarters, Abuja, and headed for BJ’s Garden with a female relative.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained and is questioning a former governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbenidion over an alleged diversion of N1.6bn of public funds. The spokesman of EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren confirmed this development but declined to make any further comment. The ex-governor arrived at EFCC’s headquarters, Jabi, Abuja on Thursday at around 2 pm.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has on Monday found the Chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina guilty of money laundering charges, sentencing him to eight years in prison. In a judgment delivered by Justice Okon Abang, the court held that Maina stole over N2 billion belonging to pensioners “most of whom have died without reaping the fruits of their labour”.
