A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted an order of interim forfeiture of 11 high-end designer, which was confiscated from social media celebrity, Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The items are five luxury wristwatches, an iPhone 8, and five luxury sunglasses which were confiscated from Mompha at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on October 19, 2019, when he was arrested by the EFCC.

The three abducted seminarians at the Christ the King Major Seminary, St. Albert Institute, Fayit, Fadan Kagoma in Jema’a Local government Area of kaduna State, have regained their freedom from bandits who kidnapped them on Monday night. The Chancellor, Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Reverend Father Emmanuel Uchechukwu Okolo, confirmed their release on Wednesday night. Recall that bandits in their large numbers on Monday about 8:00 pm, attacked seven seminarians at the school chapel. They succeeded in kidnapping three, while others escaped with injuries. They were taken to the hospital, treated and discharged. According to him, “with hearts filled with joy, we raise our voices in a symphony of praises as we announce the return of our Three Major Seminarians, who were abducted by armed persons from the Chapel of the Seminary at Christ the King Major Seminary, Fayit Fadan Kagoma in Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State, on Monday 11 October, 2021.”

Reports have it that bandits have released about 90 abducted students and staff of Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin Yauri in Kebbi state after spending one hundred and eighteen (118) days in captivity. Confirming the gaining of freedom of the students and teachers, a father of one of the victims, who sort for anonymity said, they were released yesterday but are still with the authorities. They are expected to undergo some medical check-up before they are released to parents. Requested whether or not there was ransom paid earlier than the bandits launched the scholars, he stated, “I’m not going to talk on that. I hope the authorities are in the position to explain better.”

Chidinma Ojukwu, a 300 level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga. The 22-year-old, who is being prosecuted by the Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution, who is accused of murdering Super TV Chief Executive Officer, Usifo Ataga, pleaded not guilty to the crime on Tuesday alongside one Adedapo Quadri as they are the key suspects in the murder case. They were arraigned before Justice Yetunde Adesanya of the Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square.

St. Albert The Great Institute of philosophy, a Catholic-run seminary located in the Fayit community of kagoma Chiefdom in the Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has been attacked by gunmen suspected to be bandits. According to reports, the bandits invaded the seminary on Monday night, around 8 pm shooting sporadically, and causing students and residents in the area to scamper for safety. A source who stays close to the school stated that the operation lasted for over an hour before local hunters and vigilantes intervened forcing the bandits to flee.

Faisal, son of former chairman of the defunct Pension Reform Taskforce Team, Abdulrasheed Maina has on Thursday been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by a Federal High Court in Abuja. The Presiding Judge, Justice Okon Abang jailed Faisal, after he was found guilty on a three-count charge of money laundering involving N58.1 million filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
