The National Economic Council (NEC) yesterday revealed that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their collaborators secessionist were the shadows that hijacked the protest and widespread lawlessness across the country. Hoodlums have reportedly hijacked the EndSARS protest that caused lawlessness and widespread looting of both private and public properties that worth billions of naira.

Following the #EndSars movement, calling for the end in Police Brutality and Extortion by Nigerian youths across the country as well as several attacks by hoodlums including arson, vandalism, and looting of Warehouses holding COVID-19 palliative items have been recorded across the country. States, where hoodlums looted COVID-19 warehouses, include Lagos, Plateau, Cross River, Oyo, Kwara, Edo, Ondo, Adamawa, Kaduna, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) among others.

The Pan-Yoruba Socio-political organization, Afenifere has denied rumor making round that they have issued a quit notice to Igbos residing in the Yoruba lands to leave. Afenifere said the initiator of the 48hours quit notice is not in any way related to the group nor is he speaking for the group but of his personal opinion.

The Federal Government says the attempted attack on the Ikoyi Correctional Centre has been successfully repelled by the security agents. This afternoon, there was attempted jailbreak on the prison by the protesters of EndSARS in Lagos. Though the protesters have set part of the facility ablaze but did not succeed in gaining entrance. In reaction to the incidence, the Ministry of Interior has assured that the situation was brought under control.
