629 Migrants Stranded After Italy's Matteo Salvini Denies Docking Of Rescue Ship

New Interior Minister of Italy, Matteo Salvini, have denied permission for a rescue ship conveying about 629 migrants to dock, thereby leaving them stranded.

The migrants, who are mostly children, were picked up in six different rescue operations off Libya's coast, BBC reports.

An Uzbek man seeking asylum in Sweden has been jailed for life in on Thursday for killing five people in a stolen truck attack when he ran intoshoppers on a busy street in Stockholm in April 2017. French President Emmanuel Macron's chief of staff, Alexis Kohler, is under investigation for alleged influence-peddling and conflict of interest.

The financial prosecutor's office said it was checking whether Mr Kohler had breached civil service rules when he was handling issues relating to the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).

He has denied wrongdoing. His family has links with Italian-Swiss MSC.

Spanish Socialist Pedro Sánchez was sworn on Saturday as Spain's new Prime Minister by King Felipe VI, a day after ousting scandal-hit political rival Mariano Rajoy in a no-confidence vote. Mr Sánchez, who is an atheist, took the oath to protect the constitution without a bible or crucifix - a first in Spain's modern history, at the Zarzuela Palace near Madrid.
