The United Nations Department of Safety and Security has warned all humanitarian workers currently working in Rann to evacuate their staff following last night’s attack on the Internally Displaced Persons’ Camp (IDPs camp). According to Dailytrust, the UN directive was contained in a statement issued on Friday.

FG to Ban Trucks on Lagos/Ibadan Highway

The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi disclosed that the Federal Government has finalized plans to compel cargo transporters plying the Lagos/Ibadan highway to use the railway system.

The Nigerian Army Repels Another Boko Haram Attack in Borno State, Killing Scores of Insurgents.

The Nigerian Army has announced that it repelled another attack by BokoHaram in Arege village in Borno State while attempting to infiltrate 118 Battalion. Scores of the insurgents were reportedly killed, while high caliber weapons were recovered including; one Anti Aircraft Gun, four AK 47 rifles and one Light Machine Gun, with hundreds of different caliber of ammunition.  

Eastern Railways: The Controversy

The delay in the resuscitation of the Eastern railway network is a great disservice to efforts to diversify the economy. The Senate Joint Committee on Land Transport and Local and Foreign Debts chaired by Senator Gbenga Ashafa, recently invited the Minister of Transport, Chibuike Amaechi, to explain factors behind what is being seen as the “exclusion” of the Eastern rails from the Muhammadu Buhari regime’s railway agenda.
