41 Weeks Pregnant Woman Commits Suicide AS Family Deny Her C-Section

A 26-year-old Chinese woman identified as Ma Rongrong has killed herself after she was denied the option of a c-section to deliver a 41-week baby who had an “unusually large head.” Rongrong was 41 weeks pregnant when on August 31 she jumped from the fifth floor of the First Hospital of Yulin in Yulin, Northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.

The management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has directed Corps Members who are medical doctors to fill the gaps created by striking resident doctors across public hospitals in the country. The Corps' Director of Press, Bose Aderibigbe stated this on Wednesday in a chat with newsmen in Abuja. She stated that Corps members must remember that situations like this require them to step in and offer selfless services to the country. She assured that the scheme would also support the Federal Government in its efforts to better the lives of Nigerians.

The death toll from a cholera outbreak in restive northeast Nigeria has risen to 21, with most of the victims living in a camp for people displaced by Boko Haram violence, the health ministry said Tuesday. On Saturday, the ministry had said the cholera toll was 14 in the town of Maiduguri, with most of the victims living in a camp for people displaced by Boko Haram violence.

Seven Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have been reportedly killed following the outbreak of cholera at some IDP camps in Borno state. The Medical Director of the Medecins Sans Frontiers (MSF), Anna Cillers who confirmed the incident blamed the development on flood at the affected camps.  She disclosed that over 50 patients were currently on admission at the hospital for treatment. “We have holistic measures to address this cholera outbreak urgently although people are dying day by day.

Prof. Adegboyega Fawole of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), has warned that Human Papiloma Virus (HPV) has been found in the throat of people engaging in oral sex. Fawole, who is of the Department of Gynaecology, UITH told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Tuesday that HPV was mostly sexually transmitted.

A report monitored by vigil360 on bbc.com indicate that Scientists in Edinburgh, Scotland, have developed a camera that can see through the human body. The device has been designed to help doctors track medical tools, known as endoscopes, during internal examinations. Prior to the development, medics have had to rely on expensive scans, such as X-rays, to trace their progress. The new camera works by detecting light sources inside the body, such as the illuminated tip of the endoscope's long flexible tube.
