Trump’s Hiv/Aid Cuts Could Cost 9 Million Life Yearly In Africa

US President Donald Trump’s plan to cut foreign aid supporting HIV/Aids treatment could cost 9 million years of lost life in South Africa and Ivory Coast, according to a global study released on Monday.

The Vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has revealed that the present administration has so far spent N1.3 trillion on capital projects in 2016. He further added that the amount is the highest ever spent in the history of the country. Osinbajo who said this on Monday made the revelation during plenary session at the 2017 Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) National Conference, taking place in Lagos.

Novartis is taking aim at drug-resistant by launching clinical trials of the first new antimalarial medicine for many years in nine countries across Africa and Asia. The Swiss drug maker, which is working on the mid-stage Phase IIb trial program with the group Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), said on Monday it believed its drug KAF156 could be a "game-changer".
