The Federal Government in a bid to improve the education system on Wednesday ratified the Safe School Declaration, Daily Trust reports. Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education made the disclosure while addressing state house correspondents after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Safe School Declaration is an inter-governmental political commitment which countries can support and protect schools and universities through a set of guidelines against Military use during armed conflict.


The initiative was opened for endorsement during the Oslo conference on Safe Schools in May 2015.


Adamu explained that Nigeria is committed to implementing the initiative's guidelines to protect students, teachers, and schools from attacks.
