FIFA, NFF Celebrate Finidi At 47

The Federation of International Football (FIFA) and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have congratulated former Nigeria international, Finidi George, who turned 47 Sunday.

Both football governing bodies congratulated George via their respective verified Twitter handles.

FIFA who also sent birthday wishes to other footballers tweeted: “Happy birthday to Steven Defour (30), Dudu Cearense (35), Andres D’Alessandro (37) and Finidi George (47).”

And the NFF tweeted on their handle: “Happy birthday to one of the best “No 7″ ever. Have a good one Finidi George.”

George made his debut for the Super Eagles in 1991 and went on to make 62 appearances, scoring six goals.

He featured in four Africa Cup Nations (Senegal 1992, Tunisia 1994, Ghana/Nigeria 2000 and Mali 2002) and two FIFA World Cups (USA 1994 and France 1998).

At club level, he won three Dutch Eredivisie titles (1994, 1995, 1996) the UEFA Champions League (1995), UEFA Super Cup (1995) and the Intercontinental Cup (now defunct) in 1995.
