The Senate at its sitting today stood down further consideration on the National Roads Funds bill, 2017.

The bill had proposed that importers of petroleum products should pay a N5 levy on every litre on imported products which will form part of the planned national roads fund.

The bill also recommended the deduction of 0.5 per cent on fares paid by passengers travelling on the interstate roads to commercial mass transit operators, and the return of toll gates on federal roads, among others provisions.

The senate received a backlash from Nigerians as the condemned the action of the senate
