NCC Deploys New Strategy To Curb Piracy

In a bid to combat piracy in the Nigerian creative industries, the Nigerian Copyright Commission, NCC has launched the Staff Neighbourhood Anti-piracy Surveillance (SNAP), a new anti-piracy programme.

Mr John Aseni, Director-General, NCC initiated the programme, saying all staff of the commission would carry out surveillance on activities of pirates and other methods of intelligence gathering so as to 

He explained that through the SNAP initiative, staff would embark on copyright awareness activities, educating the public on the disadvantages of piracy.

The DG disclosed that a surveillance initiative would be introduced for stakeholders as proactive efforts for better synergy between the public and private sector and also empowering them as development partners of the commission.

Mr Aseni also told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the initiative would assist in the fight against piracy as well as improve public sensitization on copyright issues.
