Unknown gunmen linked to the terror group Islamic State Friday morning attacked a bus carrying Egyptian Christians south of Cairo, killing at least 24 people and injuring 27 others.  According to officials of Egypt's health ministry, “...there are more than 20 dead and more than 20 wounded.”

An AFP report claimed that the attackers, about 10 dressed in military uniforms struck in EL-Minya Province as the vehicle was heading towards St Samuel Monastery.

The attack in Minya province came after the Islamic State claimed responsibility for church bombings in December and April that killed dozens of Egypt’s Coptic Christians.

The jihadists threatened more attacks against the Arab country’s Christian minority.
