Landslides Kills Two and Several People Missing

Settlers of a heavily populated Island of Java were stormed by a landslide which struck the western part of the Island on Monday 31st of December 2018.

 

Java Island which is located in Indonesia, bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south and the Java sea on the north and have a population of over 150 million inhabitants, were left in shambles after the landslide struck. Killing at least two people, injured 2 people, leaving 41 missing and several homes buried in the ground.

A spokesperson from the Indonesia disaster agency, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said in a statement that “Rugged rocky roads and the rainy weather is making it difficult for our team to conduct evacuation operations,” and that heavy equipment will be needed to help search for survivors.
