US House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan will not run for re-election this year, in a big blow to Republicans with mid-term elections looming.

Congress' most powerful lawmaker said he would not stand for another term in his Wisconsin district this November.

Republicans already face a tough challenge from Democrats to keep control of the lower chamber.

This will end a brief stint atop the House and be signalling the peril that the Republican Party faces in the midterm elections.

US Federal agents armed with search warrants have seized documents from President Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen, a defence lawyer said Monday. The raid on Cohen’s office was done by the U.S. Attorney’s office in Manhattan and was based, in part, on a referral from special counsel Robert Mueller, according to Cohen’s lawyer, Stephen Ryan.

U.S. President Donald Trump has blamed former President Barack Obama for the continued crisis in Syria and the Middle East. Trump in a series of tweet on his verified handle @RealDonaldTrump, also blasted Russia and Iran for backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad whom he referred to as an “Animal”.
