Information reaching vigil360 indicates that the auditor of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), Zakari Mohammed Sada, has been kidnapped by gunmen along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.

Sada was said to be travelling from Abuja to Kaduna when his car was intercepted by the kidnappers around Katari.

The report said the gunmen whisked him into a bush and contacted his family to demand a ransom.

The actual sum demanded by the kidnappers is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers attacked travellers around the same area of the expressway on Friday, July 7, killing a woman.

The Kaduna-Abuja highway has become notorious for armed robbery and kidnapping in recent time. The situation necessitated the deployment of huge security presence during the diversion of flight to the Kaduna Airport.

However, with the reopening of the Abuja airport, the security presence seems to have disappeared, leading to renewed attacked on passengers along the route.
