The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu has disclosed that many Nigerian graduates can neither read nor write applications after spending years in school. The Minister was lamenting the falling standard of education in Nigeria and its neglects by the concerned stakeholders.
Adamu was speaking in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state during the official commissioning of completed projects in the college of Education on Friday, decried the situation in which many graduates in Nigeria can’t read or right in a tolerable manner.
According to the Minister, the situation has called for concern calling on Nigerian Teachers and their students to sit up and face their task squarely if the situation has to change.
He said, “Some graduates of tertiary institutions across the country cannot read or write applications,” Adamu, who was represented by Hajia Rakiya Gambo Iliyasu, the Director of Tertiary Education in the Federal Ministry of Education.
The Minister called on all stakeholders in the education sector to sit up and ensure that the level at which the Nigerian graduates are being chucked out from schools are unemployable and will not do the county any good.
