Senator Abdullahi Adamu Emerges APC National Chairman

Senator Abdullahi Adamu has emerged as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), about a year and nine months after the Adams Oshiomhole led National Working Committee (NWC) was dissolved. He was returned unopposed on Saturday at the party’s national convention held at the Eagle Square in Abuja, the nation’s capital. Adamu, a serving member of the Senate representing Nasarawa West and former governor of the state, is President Muhammadu Buhari’s choice for the job.

Court Sacks Gov Umahi, Deputy, Others Over Unconstitutional Defection To APC

A Federal High Court presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo has sacked Ebonyi State Governor, Mr. Dave Umahi, and his Deputy, Dr. Kelechi Igwe over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

DSS Warns Politicians Against ‘Unguarded’ Statements

The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned politicians against making “unguarded statements” that could disrupt public order. The DSS was reacting to a statement reportedly made by the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu during an event in Owerri, Imo State on 23 February 2022, where he said that when PDP reclaims power in 2023, the party will not use the DSS “to kill people as the APC-led administration did”.

Buhari Signs Electoral Bill Into Law

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Friday signed the Electoral Act Amendment Bill 2022 into law. The bill was signed at the Council Chamber of the President Villa in the presence of the President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, witnessed the signing of the bill alongside members of the President’s cabinet including his Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, among others.

Reps Reject Life Pension For Senate President, Speaker, Others

The House of Representatives has rejected the bill for a constitutional life pension to the President of the Senate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, and their respective Deputies. A total of 193 members of the House of Representatives voted for the rejection of the bill, while 162 members voted for the provision and 3 members abstained from the voting exercise.

APC To Postpone Feb 26 Convention

Chairman All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker: Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Mai Mala Buni, has stated that the party is not ready for the February 26 convention and that a new date will soon be announced. As the party look for ways to ensure a credible and successful convention, the CECPC  of the party and APC governors would meet President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday 19th of February 2022 to propose a new date.
