The Senator representing Rivers South East, Magnus Abe has revealed the real reason he decided to fight his former boss, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi over the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in the state.
The Senator in an interview with Interview Magazine said Amaechi humiliated him by asking him not to contest the governorship ticket in presence of his wife.
“My grievances with the transportation minister has nothing to do with him supporting me or not. I have told him clearly that he is free to support who he wants. My disagreement with him is that he said I should not run, and I said I would run,” he stated.
“To come to my house, call me in front of my wife and tell me not to try contesting was the height of it. I said no, I would not accept, I would contest,” he added.
Although a Court order has reportedly nullified the primary election conducted in the state, the leadership of APC had since recognized Tonye Cole, Amaechi's candidate as the governorship candidate in the state.
