The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday, 21st March 2019 announced that it has perfected plans to conclude the process leading to the declaration of the Governor-elect in Rivers state.

Making the disclosure at the press briefing in Abuja, Festus Okoye, INEC commissioner for information and voter education, said that collation and announcement of results already generated will be resume between April 2 and 5, 2019.

Okoye said that the announcement of results will be done on April 15, while issuance of a certificate of return will be on April 19.

The INEC commissioner also disclosed that the commission will organize an inter-agency meeting with “relevant agencies” on March 29.

He added that revalidation of observers will be done simultaneously in Abuja and Rivers between March 25 and March 31 and that collation of results will resume in the state between April 2 and April 5.

It would be recalled that on March 10, INEC suspended all electoral processes in the state as a result of violence and widespread disruption of collation of results.
