Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says he is not planning to replace Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo. Tinubu said this in response to a report that he may be picked as the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. Buhari and Tinubu fell out shortly after the 2015 election but both men have been holding frequent meetings of late.

Nigerian government has reiterated its commitment to complete the Lagos- Ibadan rail project by December, 2018. The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Ameachi who made the commitment when he inspected the project site in Papalanto, Ogun State, said that the project will be commissioned in January, 2019.

Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the immediate return of Obiora Okonkwo of the Peoples Democratic Party as the senator representing the Anambra Central Senatorial District. Justice John Tsoho gave the ruling on Wednesday after counsel to other parties in the matter withdrew their arguments against the plaintiff.

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, joined stakeholders on Wednesday in opposing the Non-Governmental Organisations Bill at the National Assembly. The House of Representatives Committee on Civil Society is holding a public hearing on the bill. The bill, which seeks to supervise, monitor and coordinate the activities of civil society organisations (CSOs) and community-based organisations (CBOs), has been condemned by many Nigerians.

Sen. Shehu Sani on Wednesday slammed northerners in power for seeing themselves as demigod and failing to use the opportunity to improve the wellbeing of people from the region. The Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District stated this on Wednesday at the opening ceremony of the Northern Senators Forum in Katsina state. He called on leaders from the region to redouble efforts in the areas of Education, agriculture, mines, ICT, tourism and health to stimulate growth and development in the region.
