The National Publicity Secretary of All Progressives Congress (APC), Bolaji Abdullahi has described Peoples Democratic Party’s criticism of the $1bn approved by the National Economic Council for the Boko Haram war as baseless and ridiculous. In a statement released to newsmen on Monday in Abuja, Abdullahi said the PDP was only being mischievous by claiming that the approved funds would be used for the prosecution of the 2019 general elections.

Four persons including a Vigilante Chief were yesterday hacked to death following renewed violent communal clash in Ogobia community in Otukpo Local Government of Benue state. Although the detail of the incident remains sketchy, Police Public Relation Officer, Benue state Command, Moses Yamu (ASP) confirmed the incident, stressing that apart from the four persons confirmed dead, other residents in the area sustained varying degrees of injuries.

President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled his scheduled trip to the Republic of Niger.

This comes barely 24 hours after his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, announced in a statement that the President would attend the 59th Proclamation of Republic of Niger ceremony in Tahoua, Niger.

President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday, December 18, 2017 travel to Niger Republic to attend the 59th proclamation of Republic of Niger ceremony in Tahoua, Niger Republic. The Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu stated this on his Twitter handle and Facebook page. He disclosed that the President would be accompanied on this visit by three state governors including Aminu Masari, Ibrahim Gaidam and Kashim Shettima of Katsina, Yobe and Borno states respectively.

Former Kano state Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau says the return of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not pose any threat whatsoever to his presidential ambition. Shekarau who made this known in a statement issued by his media aide, Sule Ya'u Sule stressed that though stakeholders in the party are happy over his return to the party, no single member of the party would scuttle his ambition of becoming President in 2019.
