President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday said Nigeria survived its past abuses only by the grace of God.

The President said this in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina.

“Some of the things I saw here were unbelievable. I still shudder and wonder how a country can survive under such abuses. It is only by an act of God that we survived,” he said.

The Peoples Democratic Party has called on Nigerians to work against an alleged plot by President Muhammadu Buhari to become the sole presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections. The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan stated this on Thursday during a chat with newsmen in Abuja. He explained that the plot was the reason why the All Progressives Congress was bent on causing disaffection within the ranks of the PDP.

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus has debunked allegations that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar may be an APC mole working against the interest of the party. In a statement issued by the Chairman's media office, Secondus said the claims were baseless and skewed primarily to distract and cause division within the party.

The daughter of MKO Abiola, Hafsat Abiola-Costello has reacted to ongoing controversy over the refusal by the Nigerian Body of Benchers to call one Amasa Firdaus, a University of Ilorin Law graduate to bar following her refusal to remove her hijab during the ceremony. The Rule of Law Development Foundation (RODLDF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to reshuffle his cabinet for improved performance.

Hon. Johnson Agbonayinma, a member of the House of Representatives member representing Egor/Ikpoba-okha constituency of Edo State, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). His defection was announced at plenary on Thursday in a letter read to the lawmakers by Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house.
