The Ohanaze Ndigbo, a Socio Cultural group of Igbo people has on Monday called on the Imo state indigenes to accept in good faith the Supreme court verdict that upturned the Governorship election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and uphold that of Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The founder of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, has thrown his weight behind the Supreme Court judgment on the Imo State governorship election. According to Dailypost, Uwazuruike said he fully supports the Supreme Court ruling which sacked Emeka Ihedioha and declared Hope Uzodinma governor of Imo State.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP on Friday held a press conference at the National Secretariat of the Party, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.  The party in a statement issued by its national chairman, Uche Secondus rejected the recent judgment of the Supreme Court, sacking the PDP-led government in Imo State. The party accused the judiciary of acting the script of the ruling party.

Mr Emeka Ihedioha, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is also the sacked Governor of Imo State, has said despite the Supreme Court upturning his victory as the Governor of Imo state, he disclosed his faith remain strong in the Nigerian democracy. Ihedioha stated this on Sunday when he received members of the National Working Committee (NWC) lead by the Party Chairman, Mr Uche Secondus who paid him a solidarity visit at his Abuja residence.

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the 2019 election of the Sokoto State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Aminu Tambuwal, as the Governor of Sokoto State. A seven-man panel of justices of the apex court headed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Tanko Muhammad, had last week stood down its proceedings to enable it to deliver judgement on Sokoto State governorship election dispute.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked Senator Ifeanyi Ubah of the Young Progressives Party (YPP). According to Dailypost, Justice Bello Kawu, in a ruling, declined Ubah’s request to set aside the earlier order issued in a judgment delivered by the court on April 11, 2019. Kawu had, in an earlier judgment, sacked Ubah for allegedly submitting a forged National Examination Council (NECO) certificate, to contest the February 23, 2019, senatorial election.
