The Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Bilyaminu Moriki, is set to be impeached by majority lawmakers from the opposition party.
It was gathered that majority of the members held a crucial meeting at the main complex of the State Assembly on the matter on Thursday evening.
Accordingly, the State Assembly complex was shutdown, as security operatives comprising police and Nigeria security and Civil Defense Corps have been deployed to the enforce normalcy in the area.
However, the mace, a symbol of authority in the Assembly was said to be taken away to frustrate the process.
Meanwhile, officials have not released any statement on the development.
