Barcelona want Al-Sadd boss Xavi Hernandez to replace Ernesto Valverde as the head coach immediately. According to Marca, CEO Oscar Grau and technical secretary Eric Abidal travelled to Doha on Friday to interview the former Blaugrana player. The meeting was planned a few days ago to offer Xavi the job for the next two full seasons, but the situation has escalated with the defeat to Atletico Madrid in the Supercopa de Espana.

Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard, has insisted a deal is not close for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele contrary to widespread media reports. Reports earlier this week claimed the Blues had already agreed personal terms with the 23-year-old, despite having seen a £34million bid rejected by the Ligue 1 club. Lampard is ready to sanction the sale of Olivier Giroud and is already eyeing possible replacements.
