The Super Eagles of Nigeria after defeating Bafana Bafana in a puslating event in Bouake, will play hosts Ivory Coast who downed The Leopards of Congo DR 1-0 to progress for a showdown in Abijan on Sunday 11th February 2024.

The Super Eagles, appearing in her record-breaking 15th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) triumphed after a 1-1 dramatic draw in Bouake through penalty shootouts where they defeated South Africa 4-2 to advance.

South Africa however took the game to the Eagles, but Nigeria scored the first goal of the game after Mothobi Mvala brought down Super eagle and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen in the penalty box after the first hour of the game. Captain, Troost-Ekong made no mistake to slot in the resultant penalty.

Few minutes to the end of the dramatic encounter, while Osimhen was jubilating a perfect tap-in, the VAR stopped play from a suspected infringement on Percy Tau by Alhassan Yusuf in Nigeria's box, which led to a spot kick being granted to Bafana Bafana. Teboho Mokoena made no mistake in converting the opportunity which sent the game to extra time and shootouts where the Eagles came on top after fantastic saves from Eagles Goalee Stanley Nwabali.

In contrast, Sebastien Haller who had missed the group stage through injury before making his first appearance in a shock last-16 victory over Senegal scored a 65th-minute volley was enough to seal the faith of Ivory Coast.
