A former Ivory Coast and Newcastle player, Chieck Tiote, has died in China. Tiote collapsed during a training session with his Chinese second division side, Beijing Enterprises, and was rushed to a local Hospital where he was pronounced dead.


30 year old Tiote, was with Newcastle United of England for more than six years and scored a stunning volley in a remarkable 4 - 4 comeback against Arsenal during a Premiership match. He moved to China during the 2017 January transfer window in a protracted deal to join other start such as Oscar, Odion Ighalo, Tevez and Hulk, among others.

FIFA has already confirmed the death of the player via a tweet which reads: “Our sincere condolences to the family, friends & team-mates of Cheick Tiote, who passed away today in China, aged just 30. Rest in peace”.
