Oil marketers under the aegis of Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria (NOGASA), have lamented that they can no longer sustain the distribution of petroleum products across the country. This is as a result of the increase in the price of diesel used by these marketers to power their trucks. Diesel now sells for N1,100/litre in many locations. The marketers requested the urgent intervention of the federal government to arrest the situation.
The National President of NOGASA, Benneth Korie, in a statement, raised the alarm on the incessant rise in the price of AGO in Abuja. He noted that it has caused hardship for the haulage of products by transporters and commuters alike.
"NOGASA is worried about the ugly development and trying to understand why prices of diesel are going as high as N950 to N1,100 per litre in the market with a view to moderating the prices and shocks in the economy."
"However, the price of crude oil as of today is $95/barrel and the dollar is racing towards N1,000. Consequently, Nigeria's refineries should be given emergency attention by the government to forestall the nose-diving of the economy."
