Last weekend, the daughter of Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun got married to Oladipupo Erewa, the son of Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Relations and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri. The ceremony was attended by top political gladiators including the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, many state Governors and the Ooni of Ife.

Although the event was largely glamorous and peaceful, a picture of the Ooni of Ife paying obeisance to the Senate President has sparked massive outrage with commentators claiming that the royal father was denigrating the highly exalted throne.

Some claim that his actions and inactions were responsible for the demystification of the revered stool and the attendant disrespect across Yorubaland.  They called on the Monarch to reduce his public appearance at public events and command the respect the throne deserves.

Some others applauded the humble disposition of the royal father as attempted to reciprocate the gesture of the Senate President.
