Few days after Prof. Akindele, a senior lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, accused of sexually harassing a female Post Graduate student, Monica Osagie was suspended following his indictment by a panel set up by the University authorities, Monica has been asked to appear before the panel on Tuesday.

Recall that a recent viral audio tape circulated on the social media revealed Prof. Akindele demanding five rounds of sex in exchange for examination marks for Monica who reportedly failed his course.

The panel set up investigate the matter had earlier suspended him after confirming that the voice in the audio tape actually belonged to him. The panel however claimed that Monica had refused to appear before the panel.

The claim was flatly debunked by her lawyer and Executive Director of Women Advocates Research and Documentation Centre, Dr. Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi who insisted that Monica was never invited by the panel. She explained that Monica had resorted to self-help after authorities failed to address the situation after reporting the matter.

Meanwhile, a letter of invitation to appear before the panel, sent to Monica indicates that she is billed to make the appearance on Tuesday. The letter read in part

“I write at the instance of the Provost, Post-Graduate College to invite you to appear before the investigative panel on alleged harassment of a female student detailed in audio recording at its meeting which will come up at 10:00am on Tuesday April 24 2018.

“Please be informed that on arrival, you are required to call the Secretary to the panel to facilitate your appearance before the panel. Thank you.”

The letter was entitled “Re: Investigative panel on alleged harassment of a female student: Detailed audio recording: Request for the presentation of Miss Osagie Monica Oselode” and signed by Deputy Registrar and Post-Graduate College Secretary, Mrs. A.O. Fadeyibi.
