Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Mike Ezuruonye has explained the reason why he recently produced a new comedy movie titled 'Divorce Not Allowed'. In a recent interview, he said the movie when released on April 13, would encourage married people to fight for their marriages instead of hurrying to seek divorce in court.
He lamented that partners no longer make efforts to rescue their union from collapse. He expressed optimism that the film would positively impact on the people and address the increasing problem of divorce.
According to him;
"Marriages continue to crash today because many people give up too easily on their marriages. People have simply stopped fighting for their marriages and when you fail to fight for what you believe in, you have lost the fight already. That's because you didn't even make the effort. I made the movie 'Divorce Not Allowed' because I want people to start fighting for their marriages again in order for us to have a better world.
I'm not a fan of buffoonery. Even if it's comedy, it has to have a message to it, which is what we did with "Divorce? Not Allowed."
The movie featured Nollywood actors such as Bolanle Ninalowo, Iyabo Ojo, Angela Okorie, Eniola Badmus, Salami Rotimi and Ezuruonye. It explores issues faced by young couples in marriages and how their resolutions sometimes threaten to shake the foundation of their love.
The movie is coming shortly after Ezuruonye's self-produced comedy movie "Brother Jekwu," which reportedly grossed 20 million naira in 10 days.
