ECOWAS Heads of States and Governments have elected Niger President, Issoufou Mahamadou as the chairman of ECOWAS for a one-year term.

Egypt’s first democratically elected President, Mohamed Morsi collapsed and died in court, after making his final statement during his trial on espionage charges. Morsi, 67, was ousted following allegations of his collaboration with foreign powers and militant movements.

General Seare Mekonnen Shot Dead In Ethiopia 'Coup Bid' Attacks

The chief of staff of the Ethiopian army, Gen Seare Mekonnen, has been shot dead by his own bodyguard in the capital, Addis Ababa. He and another officer died trying to prevent a coup attempt against the administration in Ethiopia's northrne Amhara region, PM Abiy Ahmed said.

Botswana's High Court Approves Homosexuality

Following his speech in December 2018, President Mokgweetsi Masisi of Botswana tends to have given a nod for same-sex relations, opining that LGBT citizens deserve to have their rights protected. Not surprised with the comment, Botswana decriminalized homosexuality on Tuesday, with the High Court overturning a colonial-era law that punished gay sex by up to seven years in prison.

George Leah shuts Internet in Liberia

Following an anti-government protest in Liberia, the country's Minister of Information, Eugene Nagbe has announced that social media platforms have been shut down temporarily because of "security concerns." Although some of the platforms has been restored, our correspondent gathered.
