The United Nations, UN, says no fewer than 32,000 Cameroonians fleeing insecurity and violence are currently taking refuge in Nigeria.  UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Cameroon, Ms Allegra Baiocchi, while presenting the 2019 Humanitarian Response Plan for the country, described the situation in the country as “forgotten crisis”.

8 UN Peacekeepers Killed In Mali Attack

In a recent attack in Mali, it has been reported that not less than eight Chadian UN peacekeepers has been killed in one of their bases in northern Mali. The UN spokesman in Mali, Muhamat Saleh Annadif condemned what he described as a vile and cowardly attack and called for a “robust” response.

The International Criminal Court has acquitted and ordered the immediate release of former President of Cote d'ivoire, Laurent Gbagbo from all charges against him. Gbabgo was charged alongside his right-hand man, Mr Charles Ble Goude of crimes against humanity, rape, murder and other forms of sexual violence, persecution and "other inhuman acts" allegedly committed in 2010, which left 3,000 people dead and 500,000 displaced.

Ethiopia to Host 2020 World Economic Forum

The Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed in a discussion with Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum (WEF), Professor Klaus Schwab made a disclosure that the World Economic Forum (WEF) and Ethiopia have come to an agreement for the African country to host the next event.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs today regrettably announced the death of Ibrahim Isah, the Nigerian Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire. According to NAN, Isah slumped and died, at the Poly-Clinique Internationale Sainte Anne-Marie (PISAM) in Abidjan yesterday, where he went to see his doctor.

Protesters Shuts Down Zimbabwe

In a swift reaction to Saturday's announcement by President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe on a more than 100% rise in the price of petrol and diesel, irked commuters were stranded in Zimbabwe's two main cities on Monday 14th Jan 2019 as angry protesters burned tyres',  used rocks to barricade roads and blocked buses from carrying passengers.
