Armistice Day 2018: Buhari, World Leaders Mark End of World War I in Paris

World leaders, including Nigeria’s President MuhammaduBuhari, gathered under the rain in Paris on Sunday to lead global commemorations marking 100 years since the end of World War I, at a time of growing nationalism and diplomatic tensions.

United Nations Frowns At Attacks On Hospitals In Central African Republic

The UN has condemned intimidation of staff and patients by armed groups in the Central African Republic (CAR), who launch repeated attacks in hospitals.

The UN said, Men armed with machetes, knives and other crude weapons entered hospitals in the past few months, with the most recent happening in the town of Bambari.

Eritrea has reaffirmed its commitment to the unconditional implementation of a peace agreement with Ethiopia to end a border dispute. The Country’s Minister of Information Yemane Gebremeskel said Eritrea has for the last 16 years unconditionally accepted the results of the Algiers December 2000 peace agreement.

Mozambique's government has been shaken by beheadings and other deadly attacks by suspected Islamic extremists in a northeastern region touted internationally for its offshore reserves of natural gas. Since last month, men with machetes have spread terror in several villages in Cabo Delgado province on the border with Tanzania, beheading 10 people in one attack, hacking others to death and burning vehicles and homes.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) has overturned the conviction for war crimes and crimes against humanity of former Democratic Republic of Congo Vice-President Jean-Pierre Bemba, according to the BBC.

Bemba was found guilty in 2016 of crimes committed in the neighbouring Central African Republic (CAR) in 2002-2003.

He was accused of failing to stop his rebels from killing and raping people.

Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Thursday appointed the country’s Housing Minister, Mustafa Madbouly, as acting prime minister and directed him with to form a new cabinet, state-run Ahram Gate news website reports.

The BBC reports that Cabinet members including Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, resigned this week to pave the way for Sisi to appoint a new government following his re-election to a second term in office.
