Search Underway For 50 Kidnapped Burkina Faso Women

Security forces have commenced search for about 50 women abducted by suspected jihadists in insurgency ravaged norther Burkina Faso. The group of women and girls foraging for wild fruits were kidnapped by gunmen in separate incidents between January 12 and 13 respectively. A regional governor, Lieutenant-Colonel Rodolphe Sorgho, in a statement on Monday said as soon as their disappearance was announced, efforts were launched to find all of the innocent victims safe and sound.

US Offers $10m Reward For Al-Shabab Terror Leader Mohamoud Abdi Aden

The United States announced it was offering a reward of up to $10m (£8m) million for information about Mohamoud Abdi Aden, a man described as the “terror mastermind” of a bloody hotel attack in Kenya in 2019. He is described as the Somalia-based Al-Shabaab jijadist group that perpetrated several deadly attacks in neighbouring Kenya.

The government of Gambia disclosed on Wednesday that four soldiers have been arrested in connection with an attempted military coup on Tuesday seeking to overthrow the administration of President Adama Barrow.

Heavy Floods Kill 120 in DR Congo

At least 120 people have been killed and dozens injured in widespread floods and landslides caused by torrential rain in Kinshasa the capital city of Democratic Republic of Congo. Entire neighbourhoods were flooded with muddy water, and houses and roads ripped apart by sinkholes and landslides, including the N1 highway that connects Kinshasa to the country’s main sea port of Matadi. Many of those who died were in hillside areas which suffered landslides.

Equatorial Guinea: FG Advises Undocumented Nigerians

The Federal Government (FG) has advised undocumented Nigerians in Equatorial Guinea to immediately vacate the country, following reports that the government of Equatorial Guinea advised undocumented foreigners to voluntarily leave or face sanctions. The advisory was contained in a statement issued on Friday on behalf of the FG by Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Head, Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit, Abdur-Rahman Balogun.
