South Africa’s former president, Jacob Zuma, is due to appear in court on April 6 to face charges of corruption in a years-old $2.5 billion arms deal, his lawyer said on Monday. On March 16, the National Prosecuting Authority earlier said it would seek to prosecute Zuma on 16 charges, including fraud, racketeering, corruption and money laundering. Zuma was charged along with a French arms company Thales.

A High Court judge has given permission for Sierra Leone's presidential run-off to go ahead on Tuesday after lifting an order that had temporarily halted the vote due to claims of electoral fraud in the first round.

The run-off was thrown into doubt on Saturday when a judge said the legal challenge would have to be heard in court first.

U.S. forces said they had killed “two terrorists” in an air strike in southwestern Libya on Saturday as part of efforts to deny militants a safe haven in the country’s vast desert. The strike hit on the outskirts of the city of Ubari and was carried out in coordination with the internationally recognised Government of National Accord in Tripoli, the U.S. Africa Command said in a statement.

Kenyan opposition lawyer Miguna Miguna has been denied entry to Kenya for refusing to apply for a visa, according to local news.

Mr Miguna is travelling on his Canadian passport after he was stripped of his Kenyan citizenship.

The son of Angola's ex-President José Eduardo dos Santos has been formally accused of fraud over the alleged illegal transfer of $500m (£350m) from the central bank to the UK.

José Filomeno dos Santos is also barred from leaving the country, Deputy Attorney General Luis Benza Zanga said.

Mr Dos Santos is the highest profile person targeted in new President João Lourenço's anti-corruption drive.

Former President Jacob Zuma is expected to appear in court next week as the South African police prepare to serve him with a summons in the next few days. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) recently announced that it will prosecute the former president on 16 charges of corruption, money laundering and racketeering.
