Emergency services in Tunisia have disclosed that there was a head-on collision between two passenger trains which occurred south of the capital of Tunisia. The train incident happened around 9:30 am local time on Monday and 95 people have reportedly been injured. A spokesman for Tunisia’s emergency services said only one of the trains was transporting passengers and most of the passengers suffered fractures and bruises, he added that none of the injuries was life-threatening

According to reports, many passengers are in shock and ambulances had been mobilized to treat the wounded and take them to the hospital.
The cause of the head-on collision is still unknown but an official said safety gates and signals had been out of the service as at the time of the train crash.
According to statistics, the North African country has experienced about 173 train accidents between 2017 and 2021.
