The United States is looking to advance President Trump policy on terrorism as the U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson will use his first official visit to Britain to discuss the fight against terrorism and other foreign policy issues with Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Friday.
According to State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert, “Tillerson’s visit is an expression of UK-U.S. solidarity following the terrorist attack in Manchester earlier this week.
“Tillerson will extend condolences on behalf of the American people to the British people and Her Majesty’s government,’’
Nauert said that the visit would reaffirm America’s commitment to the special relationship between the U.S. and the UK and their common solidarity in defeating terrorism in every part of the world.
Tillerson and Johnson are expected to write messages of condolence for the victims of Monday’s attack, which killed 22 people and injured dozens at the end of a concert by U.S. singer Ariana Grande at the Manchester Arena.
