A former Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Reuben Abati has said that Nigeria may not recover from the spate of renewed herdsmen attacks in parts of the country if it is not nibbed in the bud as soon as possible.

Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUJ) in Kaduna State on Monday commenced an indefinite strike to protest the sacking of over 21,000 teachers by the state government.

The union directed all teachers in the state to remain at home until the state government reverses its decision after the sacked primary school teachers scored below 75 per cent in a competency test conducted for them in June 2017.

The directive was contained in a notice served to NUT members across the state and signed by the union Chairman and Assistant Secretary-General, Audu Amba and Adamu Ango respectively.

Kaduna Govt, Police Threaten To Arrest Striking NUT Members Over Planned Protest

The state government and the Kaduna State Police Command have issued a stern warning to members of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) to desist from any illegal act which violates the law or is capable of infringing on peace in or around the state.

The Nigerian Army says it has commenced its online registration for the 77 Regular Recruit Intake for both Trades, Non-Tradesmen and women from Dec. 29 to Feb 9, 2018, NAN reports. The disclosure was made by Army Spokesman, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday. He explained that the exercise was aimed at selecting able bodied Nigerians and would take place in all states.
