I Never Compromised My Office, Justice Bulkachuwa Speaks On Husband’s Confession

Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa, wife of the embattled Senator Adamu Bulkachuwa who represented the Buchi Northern Senatorial district between 20215 to 2023 said contrary to her husband’s claim, she never at any point in time compromised the integrity of her office. The justice was reacting to comments from Nigerians that went viral over media quoting her husband of seeking Favour while serving as senator for his colleagues through his wife while she was serving as the Appeal Court President. 

DSS Alleges Planned Protest Against CBN Gov Suspension

The Department of State Services (DSS) has revealed that its Service has identified some groups of persons planning to stage a protest calling for the release of the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele. The Service said such groups intend to gather at different points in Abuja and Lagos this week with placards depicting the Service and government in a bad light as well as calling for the immediate release of Emefiele. This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in the nation’s capital by DSS spokesperson, Dr Peter Afunanya, on Saturday stating the Service has identified persons and groups planning to stage the campaigns of calumny against it and the government over the suspension and investigation of Emefiele.

EFCC Debunks News Declaring Matawalle Wanted

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has denied claims making the round online, that former Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle being declared wanted by its agency. In a statement released on Sunday and signed by the commission’s Head, Media & Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, the commission said it never asked the Department of State Service to arrest the former governor reiterating it will only follow the standard procedure in the case with the former governor. The statement reads: “The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has been drawn to a report, entitled, Alleged N70b Fraud: EFCC Declares Ex-Zamfara Gov, Matawalle Wanted, which appeared in the Sunday Tribune of June 18, 2023, and purports that the Commission had declared a former Zamafara State governor, Bello Matawalle wanted and requested the Department of State Service, DSS, to arrest him, “anywhere he is seen”.

IGP Redeploys DIGs, Frank Mba,17 AIGS

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has approved the redeployment of DIG Hafiz M. Inuwa, mni, to head the Department of Logistics and Supply, and the posting of the recently promoted Deputy Inspectors-General of Police, DIG Bala Ciroma, and DIG Emeka Frank Mba, mni, to head the Department of Training and Development and the Department of Research and Planning respectively. With the recent elevation, DIG Ciroma has become the supervising DIG for the Northeast, while DIG Mba assumes a supervisory role over the South-East Geo political zone. This comes less than 24 hours after Ciroma and Mba’s promotion from Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) to DIG by the Police Service Commission).
