Mambila Hydro Power Project: N/East Govs Call On FG To Expedite Action

The North East Governors Forum (NEGF) has called on the Federal Government, FG to accelerate action towards execution of the hydro-electricity power project that was halted in a controversial manner in Taraba state some two years ago. The Governors made this call through a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting held at Gombe state Government House over the weekend. Accordingly, the Governors of Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Taraba, Gombe, and Yobe states met to deliberate on issues of power supply affecting the region which is giving them concern.

NSCDC Affirms Commitment To End Oil Theft In Nigeria

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has vowed to put an end to all forms of sabotage in the oil sector through arrests and prosecution of oil thieves, their sponsors and all those dealing illegally in petroleum products. According to the Commandant General (CG) of the corps, Dr Ahmed Audi, all machinery both on land and in the waterways will be deployed to combat these crimes.

Yobe Boat Mishap; Death Toll Raise To Eight(8) Persons – YOSEMA

At least eight persons have now been confirmed dead following a boat accident that happened at Jumbam village in Tarmuwa local government of Yobe state on Saturday. A boat accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when two passengers were reported drowned on transit to Babangida weekly market where a boat capsized with passengers. The Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, YOSEMA, has disclosed more details following the incident that made some local marketers meet their ill-fated day when they got capsized. 

Buhari Appoints Ndiomu As Amnesty Programme Interim Administrator

The President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Major General Barry Ndiomu (retd.) as Interim Administrator of the Amnesty Programme. This is according to a statement signed late Thursday by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, titled ‘President Buhari Appoints Major Gen BT Ndiomu (retd.) as amnesty programme interim administrator.’ According to Adesina, “The appointee hails from Odoni in Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, and was admitted to the Nigerian Defence Academy as part of 29th Regular Combatant Course.
