Breaking: Owo Catholic Church Terror Masterminds Arrested In A Joint Security Operation

The Chief of Defence Staff, Lucky Irabor, on Tuesday informed that two of the masterminds of the deadly terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, South-West Nigeria have been arrested. The suspects described as top commanders of ISWAP in Nigeria, are 32-year old Idris Ojo and 39-year old Jimoh Ibrahim.

Military Kills Bandits’ Warlord ‘Abdulkareem Boss,’ 27 Others In Airstrikes

Following months of evading security forces, a notorious bandit, Alhaji Abdulkareem Lawal, and 27 others have been eliminated by aggressive bombardments of the Nigerian military airstrikes in Katsina State, on Saturday evening.
Lawal, who is popularly called Abdulkareem Boss by his criminal colleagues, was a high-valued target on the radar of the Nigerian military and other security agencies for a while. The precision airstrikes came barely a week after service chiefs, at the last National Security Council meeting, reassured President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians that there would be a change in strategy and momentum in the fight against insurgency and terrorism and the Chief of the Air Staff’s directive to Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operational and air component commanders to ‘show no mercy’ in decimating terrorists and insurgents.

Buhari Condemns Killing Of Nigeriens, Security Officials In South-East

President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated has unequivocally condemned the killing of six Nigerien citizens and law enforcement officials by terrorists in the South-East. This was made known in a statement by Buhari's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, stating that through all possible means in ensuing speedy investigation to bring to book the perpetrators behind this heinous act.

Finally, Dariye, Nyame Set Free By Kuje Correctional Facility

Former Governors of Plateau and Taraba states, Joshua Dariye and Joly Nyame have been set free from the kuje correctional facility, Abuja. Recall the duo was granted a presidential pardon three months ago by the council of state chaired by President Buhari, on April 14th, 2022. It was learned that the two former governors were let go at about 2:15 pm today at the kuje prison after completing all processes for their release.

VP Osinbajo Demand Accountability Of Military Spending

In an effort to enforce transparency and accountability in government, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has demanded that the Military should account for its expenditure, especially on hardware that was acquired for defence. The Vice President stated this during a virtual presentation by the National Defence College Course 30 participants themed  “Defence Transformation and National Security: Strategic Options for Nigeria of the Future”. In recent times, Nigeria has been greeted with varying security challenges that are threatening all parts of the country including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, where the seat of power is located as casualties of terrorism were record not too long ago.
