Tanko Muhammad for the first time since he was sworn in as acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), has presided over a five-man panel of the apex court today Monday the 28th of February, 2019
The development follows the suspension of the former CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen by president Muhammadu Buhari over alleged gross misconduct in form of monumental corruption and under declaration of assets as required by the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
It can be recalled that Muhammad was sworn-in on Friday, 25th February 2019 being the next most senior judge in the supreme court to take the position of Onnenghen on an acting capacity.
Other panel members during the Monday sitting comprised Justices Mary Peter Odili, Kudirat Kekere-Ekum, Aminu Sanusi and Poul Galinje. The Acting CJN, as well as the four other panelist, are expected to hear and review 10 cases as listed on the supreme court's Monday's cause list as published on its official website.
