The Arewa Youth Federation has distanced itself from the call for revolution, advising youth from the region against making themselves available to be used by enemies of the state.

The group said the call by the Global Coalition for Security and Democracy in Nigeria was contrary to democratic tenet obtainable in any democratically elected government, saying activism is not madness and must be observed with decorum within the acceptable standard.

Adamu Kabir Matazu, the president of the group while addressing journalist in Abuja said, “We commend the Department of State Services (DSS) for their prompt arrest and detention of Omoyele Sowore and we further call on the DSS to investigate his connection with Nnamdi Kanu of IPOB and their external network that is set to undermine the Nigerian democracy.

The group said most youth protests turn out to be violent in most cases; therefore our security forces should carefully investigate the distant collaborators or faceless politicians who lost out in the just-concluded general election who are bent on destabilizing our hard-earned democracy.

Matazu further stated, “We also want to warn those misguided youths that are in league with Sowore to desist from this madness and shouldn’t allow themselves to be used or hoodwinked by people who no longer have Nigeria at heart. They need to be wary of those tempting them with a Greek gift that will eventually cause them everything they have ever stood for.

He threatened that his group are ready to countermarch the Sowore group and are ready to go to any length in defending the Nigerian young democracy.

The group warns those who think they have a monopoly of violence that the Arewa youth are ready to defend the tenet of democracy against either individual or foreign interest group.
