The dethroned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has taken the path of legality where he sues the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Director-General of the Department of States Services (DSS) to a federal High Court sitting in Abuja challenging his illegal detention and to enforce his fundamental Human Right.
Sanusi who was dethroned by the Kano State Government on Monday and amidst tight security was muzzled to Awe, a village in Nasarawa state where he has remained under detention with heavy security guarding the hut he was confined in.
The ex-Emir is seeking an interim order of the court to direct his unconditional release from detention.
He is demanding that the court should order his release from detention and restore his human dignity, personal liberty, freedom of movement and association (excluding Kano state), pending determination of the application’s originating sermon.
The application marked, FHC/ABJ/CS/357/2020, are the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Service, the Attorney-General of Kano State and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
